The Polar V650 is offered cheaper than many competing GPS bike computers. It has a 2.8-inch color touch screen.

As an alternative to the chest strap, Polar offers an optical sensor. It can be used on the upper arm or on the forearm.

Sensors

The Polar Is not using Ant + but Bluetooth. This is different from the other GPS bike computers. Therefore, any existing Ant+ sensors can not be used.

Polar offers its own “flow web service” for analysis on the Internet. It is reported that the app is not well supporting Android devices.

Routing

The bike navigation of the Polar V650 is very easy compared to the other featured devices. There is no routing. Transferred tours can only be followed. The internal memory is quite small with only 500 MB. It is significantly smaller than comparable competitor products.

Advantages of the Polar V650 GPS bike computer

  • low price
  • optical sensor optional available

Disadvantages of the Polar V650 GPS bike computer

  • Big and heavy
  • Cumbersome track import
  • Hardly any navigation
  • Only Bluetooth sensors
  • Short battery life
  • Small store

Own evaluation

I create my tracks almost exclusively on the computer. For cycling, I transfer them to the GPS bike computer. I think it’s much more comfortable than the route planning on the device. For me, therefore, the disadvantage of the simple navigation functions of the Polar V650 GPS bike computer is not so crucial.
