The RoadBIKE training camp in Mallorca took place from the 6th to the 13th of April 2019. It was organized by the German magazine “RoadBIKE”. I participated for the second time after 2017. Actually a great event. Unfortunately, only a few cyclists decided to spend their Mallorca stay with Roadbike.
We stayed at the Hotel Iberostar Playa de Muro. One in the upper price range in Alcudia / Playa de Muro.
We met regularly for breakfast and dinner at reserved tables. The daily program begun with a shared breakfast. At 10 o’clock we started in three groups on our daily tour. Blackroll training was offered at 5pm. After dinner there was a presentation every evening at 20:30. Of course about topics that are interesting for roadbike cyclists. The infrastructure of Hürzeler Bicycle Holidays was used for the event: partner hotel, rental bikes, bike service, etc.
Guides for our three groups were Hanka Kupfernagel, Mario Kummer and Björn Schröder. All three famous in the cycling scene. They presented themselves as committed and experienced guides. The event had a big benefit of their know-how and passion for cycling. They gladly passed on their knowledge to the group. This alone is an added value and a unique selling point of the event.
In 2017 there were about 60 participants. Last year about 80. This year the number of participants was very modest. In my view, the reasons for this are the combination of the relatively high price and the very general description of the camp. And maybe the lack of focus on a target group. The new partner for the RoadBIKE camp is Pro.TrainingTours. We will see if the event will recover in the next years and develop positively.

Sounds good Olaf, I also have friends who run a training camp tour in Mallorca. They are based in Morzine France – Company called Tri4the Alps!
