A very nice road bike tour to Kalmit and through the Palatinate Forest. First, follow the course of the wine route to Siebeldingen. Then the first time in the Palatinate Forest through Dernbachtal up to Lolosruhe. Then you leave briefly the forest and cycle through Sankt Martin where the beautiful ascent to Kalmit begins.
After enjoying the view, we return to the wonderful quiet streets of the Palatinate Forest. Via Totenkopfstraße and Elmsteiner Valley the track leads to Hermersbergerhof.
Unfortunately, construction works take place on the road to Hermersbergerhof. Some line is built in the middle of the forest. I had to walk about two kilometers on the sandy construction site until I could cycle again. In 2020, the construction works should be finished.
The selected routes back to Klingenmünster avoid completely the busy roads. The track is only on quiet roads, asphalt forest roads and bike paths.
The wine route back to Bad Bergzabern requires a final effort, because three tiny hills are left to climb. Keep in mind that the wine route is mostly wavy and rarely really flat.
The road bike tour to the Kalmit and through the Palatinate Forest will definitely be in my top 3 cycle tours.
